They probably saw that it was just another beach episode and requested it not be sent to them (or Toei just didn't bother if DiC was gonna skip it), explaining why ADV's sub-only sets were also missing the episode (they used DiC's materials). Also, it sucked and there were probably quality concerns factored in as well.

Skipping this episode was a big mistake because it made Mina a rather bland undeveloped character in the dub.Įpisode 67 was most likely skipped for the same reason as Episode 20. It didn't have a traditional "Sailor Scouts save the day!" scenario.

Also, the show was first running here in the fall, so that may have been a factor. DiC probably saw little value in a Summer beach episode. Maybe they thought they were the best in terms of quality? Maybe they were the easiest to dub? Maybe they had the least amount of objectionable content? Those probably would not have been skipped had they featured the other Scouts. 2, 5, and 6 just happened to be the unlucky ones chosen. I've said this on the thread proper but for content reasons I think the grenade in Minako's flashback was impossible to get around and it didn't fit with DiC's standards. It had absolutely nothing to do with the "Negaverse" I know Usagi didn't turn into a hooker, but DiC might of thought she looked too much like one.Įasy one.

DiC might of thought she looked too much like a hooker.In the Batman Beyond movie ROTJ two of Batgirl's underworld informants were clearly meant to be prostitutes and they had to be edited into a normal looking couple for the more family friendly PG release.
I'm thinking it had more to do with her disguise outfit. a man she just met but they could have done the Digimon the movie method of making him her Uncle or some relative. There was the whole Usagi getting into a car with the character of the day. Maybe DiC just thought the episode was boring? Any possible offending scene (Shingo kicking Luna) could have easily been cut. My best guess is that the occult themes with tarot reading bothered DiC

The possessed boy breaking windows may have figured in but I think Dic could have easily gotten around that just by cutting out any shots of the actual windows and changing the dialog. I've seen the theory that it was because Umino pulled up Haruna's skirt but that scene was so small it could have easily been cut especially since Dic seems to make on average 3-4 minutes worth of edits per episode just for time constraints. The episode 42 thread got me thinking of why the other episodes were skipped.
